Grant Swenson Playwright 2016
Grant is an engineer living in Black Forest, Colorado, who loves writing (novels, plays) in his spare time. He worked with CPR back in 2014 as an actor in Charlie Ammen's play Then and Now. He enjoys bringing plays to Drama Lab in Colorado Springs to workshop with the local theatre community. In 2015, he had plays featured in festivals at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and the Springs Ensemble Theatre. In 2016, he had plays featured at the Funky Little Theatre Company and is the winner of the 10th Annual Front Range Playwright Showcase for his play Earth Experience.
Marty McKenna Playwright 2016
Marty grew up in Teller County and is the third generation in a 50-year-old business. Most of her youth was spent with horses and cattle while earning a number of titles in the sport of rodeo. She also served as a welder in the Navy and while philosophy and literature have been a lifelong pursuit, her writing consists mostly of short stories and poetry. The Human Experience is her first play.
Jeremiah Miller Playwright 2015
Jeremiah Miller is a Colorado Springs native. He works for the Aurora Fox Arts Center and is thrilled to be a part of this year's festival. Favorite past productions include She Kills Monsters (Projections), Almost, Maine (Director), Afflicted: Daughters of Salem (lighting/set design), and the The Last Five Years (lighting design). Deirdre Gilbert Playwright 2015
Deirdre has taught English most of her life. After seeing A Doll’s House in London at age 20, she realized how theater may change the way one lives. Since then she has been an enthusiastic audience member at as many plays as possible in as many places as possible. She wrote her Ph. D. thesis on the 19th C playwright, Joanna Baillie. Recently, Deirdre has tried her hand at playwriting herself. In 2014 one of her plays was chosen to be part of the Milibo Theater’s Six Women Playwright Festival. She is very excited to be included in this year’s Our Shorts Are Showing.
Scott Anthony Playwright 2015
Scott is working with his 15th theatre company in Colorado Springs since moving here from Louisiana. He was last seen as “Grandpa” in First Company’s production of “You Can’t Take It With You.”
Jeff Schmoyer Playwright 2015
Jeff inscribes words that become short stories, novels, plays, and computer programs. He also helps invent card games and runs the pico-publishing company, Jmars Ink.
Warren Epstein Playwright 2015
Warren has been involved with CPR from its inception and appeared as an actor in Phil Ginsburg's short play "Touched by a Knish." Over the past 20 years, he has been writing, directing and acting in several theatre companies, primarily at Millibo Art Theatre, where he also serves as a board member. He was most recently seen as Victor Velasco in Star Bar's production of "Barefoot in the Park" and as the dead man in Springs Ensemble Theatre's production of "Dead Man's Cell Phone."
Jessica Weaver Playwright 2014-2016
Jessica is always thrilled to be working with the talented artists of Craft Production Resources. Having her Bachelors in theatre from Washington State, and a Masters in performance from Arizona State, one could say that the theatre is an uncontrollable passion. Jessica enjoys every facet of this art and has professional experience in everything from design to performance. Todd Wallinger Playwright 2014
Todd is an award-winning playwright with over 100 plays produced in 39 states, Canada and Australia. His Rumpelstilskin, Private Eye won the 2014 Beverly Hills Theatre Guild Play Competition for Youth Theatre. Todd teaches playwriting at the Coronado High School Thespian Conference and serves with the Colorado Theatre Guild as a judge for their annual Henry Awards.
Phil Ginsburg Playwright 2011-2014, 2016
Phil is a performance, poet/playwright. His work can be discovered in publications in the United States, England, Israel and New Zealand. His two poetry chapbooks, "Psychotropic Poems" and "The Choreography of Corn" are available at Poor Richards Bookstore. Go to indiefeedpp.libsyn.com for his poetry. His short play Anonymous, Anonymous was performed earlier this year in the Confetti Short Play Fest in Albany, NY. His award-winning short play Another Day in Polka-Topia was produced at the American Globe Theatre in NYC.
Barbara Summerville Playwright 2013, 2016
Barbara is a local actress and playwright who moved from NYC 19 years ago. Barbara and Sue Bachman produced and starred together in their one-woman shows, Mary Grace and Magdelena's Story, directed by Tracy Hunziker. She has performed in a number of productions for Theatreworks, SET, and The MAT.
Charlie Ammen Playwright 2013 - 2014
Charlie has been acting since high school. He has done stage, TV, and film. Since the mid 1980's he has appeared in several stage productions in Colorado Springs, dozens of commercials and played a children's character on local TV. He has produced and acted in over 500 murder mysteries for corporate functions. Craft Production Resource has produced 2 of Charlie's short plays.
Sue Bachman Playwright 2011-2016
Inspired by the Six Women's Playwriting Festival, Sue regularly workshops her plays with Drama Lab. She is a founding member of Craft Production Resource which has produced five of her short plays. Sue holds a theatre degree from Northwestern University, where she began writing entertainment for sorority rush parties, and later short stories for church groups. She has appeared in numerous productions at the FAC, Star Bar Players, The MAT and Theatreworks, where she appeared as Linda Loman in Death of a Salesman - for which she won the PPAC Best Actress award.
